Enable Track Matte After Effects

Go to window tracker and connect the anchor point of the solid to the wheels.

Enable track matte after effects.

In the tracker panel click track motion. This process is called parenting and it will ensure that your file is motion tracked along with the null object. If the track mattes option is missing from your after effects timeline panel right click the section above your layers navigate to the columns menu and enable modes as seen below. The next thing you will have to do is go to your trkmat column in the layer properties window and enable the track matte on the layer below your matte.

Connect your file to the null object. Import those background and foreground clips into after effects. For example if your project contains layers a and b where a is the track matte and b the fill layer duplicating or splitting both of these.

Go to layer new solid and use this to create a mask for the wheels or part of the footage you want to remove. If you cannot see this column you may have to click on the toggle mode switches button at the bottom of the screen. Both are simple to use but if you re new to the program working with track mattes might not be that obvious. In the project pane that s in the lower left corner of after effects click and drag the spiral icon that s right of your file s name onto the null 1 title and then release your mouse. Track mattes can help create cool looks in your video project like creating a cut out of your text with the video behind it.
